“I can post something every day, why should I pay You to do that?”

It’s a question we are regularly asked by prospective new clients and it is certainly one we know they are thinking, even if they do not say it.

For sure it is a valid question, although I often want to reply with a witty response of, “Of course you can, I imagine you can put numbers in a spreadsheet too, but I bet you ask your accountant to do your tax return?”

My point being we all use social media for personal use, but does that make us all social media experts for business use. Professionally marketing a business or company via Social Media platforms is an entirely different prospect.

Social Media Takes Time

Like anything in business, for anything to be done well, it generally takes a lot of energy and time. Social Media for Business is no different, in fact, for Social Media for Business to be performed properly, it takes a lot of time.

Of course many business owners like to do everything themselves in their business, but defining strategies and implementing them on each Social Media platform is probably not the best use of their time.

And being a business owner does not mean you necessarily qualify as a chartered accountant, unless of course you are a chartered accountant, in which case you shouldn’t be managing your business’s social media and marketing. Being a business owner also does not qualify you as a professional marketeer. In fact business owners are often too close to their own businesses to recognise existing marketing opportunities within their own organisations.

  • Social Media for Business requires Strategy.
  • Social Media for Business requires different strategies for different platforms, for different outcomes.
  • Social Media for Business requires regular audits of how your business is performing digitally.
  • Social Media for Business requires deep knowledge and understanding of content, platforms and implementation.

Some of What we do during Your Social Media Audit

  • We assess your current Social Media Strategy / Position / Leverage
  • We assess Brand Alignment between Websites and Social Media Profiles
  • We explore expectations and requirements
  • We define Customer Engagement strategies including Crisis Management strategies
  • We create realistic goals, objectives and timescales

Upon Engagement

When we are undertaking an audit we often discover brands are not well aligned across social media platforms. Typically social media posts do not appear regularly and consistently. We often discover content posted within social media is not made available on company websites and vice-versa. We also regularly find that content has not been optimised for each platform on which it will appear.

Improved Reach and Outcome

Social media posts that are irregular, prepared in haste and without a call to action or outcome often perform badly.

And by perform badly, we mean they have no outcome or they have limited reach.

It is quite common that  content is not linked to landing pages or tripwires to capture user data. We often find opportunities to collect Big Data are missing completely.

Posts are often made with poor content, poor wording, without hashtags or user tags to maximise exposure and we also discover social media posts are not shared into relevant user groups and forums.  Most business owners not having time to create user groups or interact with them.

Lots  seem content posting content without any thought as to the purpose, who are they trying to attract and what journey are they expecting people to take when they see it. Often they are happy in the knowledge they posted something without giving thought to outcome or reach.

We will work with you to plan structured campaigns to ensure your social media increases engagement and improves your reach.

The Right Time of Day

We regularly find social media posts appear across all social platforms at the same time, on the same day, rather than being optimised to appear on each platform at peak engagement times and days. Each platform has an optimum time of day and optimum days for maximum engagement.

We will ensure your posts are time to appear on the correct platform at the optimum time of day.

Of course examples highlighted here are just the tip of the iceberg. For every item highlighted here there are hundreds more and hundreds after that.

Yes, most business owners can make a post every day, but should they be doing that, will they remember to do that, are they ready and prepared to engage with their customers when they do that?

Are they broadcasting to an empty room and is it really the best use of their time?

If you are a business owner or manager that agrees you may not be best equipped to manage your company’s business social media, contact us today, we’d be delighted to help you.
